B 78% GoodNotes Bright and optimistic, it s big on callbacks and takes the familiar path down memory lane over treading new ground.
all my life i ve been trying my best to impress you i m supposed to be your partner not your boy wonder actual words dick grayson has said to bruce wayne my obsession with robin continues or nightwing or dick grayson or teen titan or whatever.highlights i can t believe actually i can that this is in its entirety an angsty love letter to batman this is a circus, remember bright lights flashy clothes him in a nutshell omg because he s an acrobat they d call him ANGEL WITHOUT WINGS that is so true [...]
I ve always loved Batman because he is never, ever perfect And nowhere is this clear than with Dick Grayson It s pretty damn clear that as Robin, Grayson has given his heart and soul to fighting crime The fact that Grayson is torn between two crime fighting groups shouldn t mean he s a failure But Batman isn t the shades of gray type and that can make him a bit of a jerk Like telling Robin that he s fired because he shows up late to help Batman due to taking down a villain with the Teen Titans [...]
Origin story of Nightwing, born from the ashes of his career as the first Robin Late or rather barely on time too often, Batman fires Dick who then goes to Superman for advice This leads to the realization he needs to find a place to come home to and, although he tries the circus, he turns instead to becoming a hero in his own right, comes back to Gotham and finds himself After working alongside Batgirl, then teaming up with the new Robin, Jason Todd, to save Alfred, Batman welcomes him back But [...]
To start off with, I just want to say that I had one comic left that I needed to read in this series and I didn t read it for about a week and I have no idea whyThis series shows us beginning of Dick Grayson s transition from Boy Wonder to Nightwing It was interesting to read about this transformation and to see how the former and newest for back then Robin interacted for the first time I enjoyed reading the monologue that was present for the whole series as it gave us a look into Dick s mind an [...]
3.5 stars. This isn t perfect but it serves it s purpose This tells the story of Dick transitioning from being Robin the Boy Wonder to Nightwing I ll admit, it was kind of hard watching Bruce yell at Dick Even worse when he fires him and that somehow means he s also been evicted Like, I m not entirely sure how old Dick is here but the next thing we see, he s bunking in a motel because he s broke I don t understand Was this a self inflicted punishment, because he didn t have a lot of time for a ba [...]
read it during the summer never marked it as read
Good read Batman was like, Dick, you re FIRED Robin, was like, Looks like you re the dick Ok he didn t say that, but he sure as hell was thinking it behind one of his thought clouds They could have made his nightwing costume a little less Liberace and a little I m gonna kick your ass This added a little realism to the comic world bc some comic characters are madd busy Dick Grayson at the time was full time in three comic books Batman, Robin, and Teen Titans That s madd stress and madd times a m [...]
The reason I got into reading comics was because I wanted to know about what happened between Bruce and Dick How they went from the Dynamic Duo to having such distance and drama between them Nightwing Year One is an excellently executed and substantial piece of that story.I love Dick Grayson I love his approach to life, I love his lighthearted and kind way of dealing with the world He s such a great contrast for Bruce Wayne I love Dick Grayson so it is absolutely no surprise that I would love a [...]
Nightwing Year One tells you everything you need to know about Dick Grayson and how he became Nightwing It also reveals a lot about his original origins I m sure I have one of the comic books featured in this graphic novel, but it was definitely not that one I loved the parts about his relationship with Barbara, and when he went to Superman for advice and that it was Superman that suggested the name Nightwing I ve always been of a fan of Nightwing than Batman, and this helped convince me even [...]
I wish I was impressed with this as everyone else seemed to be, but I just didn t think it was all that good Maybe I was hoping for something a bit gritty sigh It was ok Kinda.I just wasn t feeling it.
This is about how Robin make transition to the Nightwing costume and that s it You may have heard about all the problems with Bruce and the reasons as to why Dick Grayson separated from him, none of that ever came up or even had an ending, there re a lot of plot holes Batman makes the role of an asshole a man that can t let go of his anger and let it take desicions for him.On the bright side, we got to see some Jason and Dick bonding towards the end Yay
Dick Grayson s story was interesting enough, but the rest of it was not for me I prefer Batman books that have detective work Aside from the Bat family drama, this was just chases and battles with inhuman baddies like Clayface and a goofy looking Killer Croc The cartoonish Adobe Illustrator art style didn t fit Lame Batmobile design and a few other art blunders Ugh.
Oh, how I loved this one to the max Nightwing is my favorite now I won t blame or hate Batsy to fire his partner, his son, his second half because he did the right thing It s better for Grayson to go solo than be burdened by trying to multitask And the new Robin, Jason Todd is a spunky kid, yes, but I think he ll get better The art was amazing too, beautiful in fact Cool colors and perfect lines Batgirl and Nightwing wink wink
found it through some random red hood s pinterest board didn t know it has batgirl in it 3 i m always a sucker for dick s and barbara s relationship.team robin 5eva
As promised I made a point to read Nightwing and learn about Dick Grayson and you know what I like him than Batman The caped crusader was much cooler when I was a kid but once you get old enough to realize he s kind of jerk well not kind of, he is a jerk.he s not a shiny and amazing any He s grouchy, egotistical, and at times it seems he s mentally unstable but he helped raise an awesome guy Helped because Alfred did most of the actual child rearing. This goes over Dick Grayson s first encounte [...]
In which Dick Grayson discovers a follow up act to his gig as Gotham s Boy Wonder This collection reads nicely as a trade pb There s a strong arc in Dick Grayson s choice of his new path, and it ties in well with existing continuity and character relationships Fortunately for me, this is light on Teen Titans stuff, which is just as well, because my childhood exposure to Batman mythos was through the animated series than the comics, and my knowledge of that bit of the DC University is pretty ske [...]
DC, remember when you could publish comics that were both emotional and fun When you could make your characters undergo significant character development without physically or mentally torturing them Those were good days Good days that readers can relive in Nightwing Year One This graphic novel tells the story of when Dick Grayson gets fired from the Robin identity, and starts his own career as Nightwing It s both a bittersweet and exciting read, and it never forgets that even when things are co [...]
It was ok, nothing to write home about but decent I liked that he went back to his roots to start over as well as talk with clark kent on deciding his future it gives a bit of depth to superman, something he needs a lot these days I also enjoyed the team up with Jason Todd although he really irratated me, no wonder they killed him off The best bit was batgirl, yes you heard that right The moment she steps in she steals the spotlight Without a doubt she s the best thing in this book It also makes [...]
It s the story of how Nightwing came to be, and it s not the most exciting plot ever There s no dramatic villain storyline but it is adorably sweet, from Grayson calling Alfred his other parent to Grayson and Todd teaming up together to save Alfred My new fave thing lately is whenever Bruce decides to disguise himself Bring back Bruce disguises 2k16 and this not only has Bruce dressing up as some goon but Alfred dressed up as Two Face and it was awesome It s a really sweet read, if you need chee [...]
Nightwing, at least the pre reboot version, is my favorite comic character Considering I ve been reading comics for decades from many different companies, that really says something This is a slightly updated version of his origin and first year in action, with appearances by Batman of course , Batgirl, Superman, Deadman, and Chuck Dixon has a great feel for some characters, and Nightwing is on that list Hugely recommended for fans of Nightwing or costumed heroes in general.
Chuck Dixon and Scott McDaniel were master storytellers The Jagger and Richards of comics I can honestly say I ve enjoyed each issue of their run I m waiting for a Richard Dragon Omnibus As a horror nut, I appreciated the Deadman appearance Chuck Dixon has been one of my favorite writers since I was a Kid His characterization is great here, especially between Nightwing and Jason Todd Robin I really love Scott McDaniel s linework Great story all around
The relationship between Dick Greyson and Bruce Wayne or Batman and Robin has always been a unique one, to say the least Batman can br as stubborn as an ox Dick is done being the boy wonder and wants to be on his own, but all he ever knew was how to be the superhero Robin Then on some good advice from Superman Dick creates Nightwing and becomes one of the coolest heroes ever Not to mention Chuck Dixon can write a damn good Nightwing story.
Some jumpy and distracting continuity really detracted from the book for me another birthday for Dick Grayson, much later dates given for his parents deaths, Jason Todd as a seemingly natural brunette but it was still an enjoyable read I am almost tempted to give it another star just for including some days you just can t get rid of a bomb, and interactions between Jason and Dick were mostly fantastic Other supporting characters were also well done.
Very enjoyable read Chuck Dixon just gets Dick Grayson and he spins a pretty good thread with this story from beginning to end It s a coming of age tale that is equal parts Nightwing s emergence and the passing of the torch to Jason Todd Also, the dialogue between Babs and Dick is spot on This is a lot of fun There need to be tales like this these days.
This was a much better showing by Chuck Dixon than Robin Year One The stories had good villains and decent Hero cameos I even really enjoyed the time Grayson spent with SuperMan and anyone who knows me, knows that I almost never have anything good to say about SuperMan As a whole I was pretty happy with read.
This book was a joy to read The art was interesting, colourful and unique I especially liked the tone of this book It had some funny moments, but it also had some great action and storytelling It showed how Dick s relationship with Batman changed, turning him into a hero independent of Batman Great book
Anyway, this was a nice origin story about the emergence of Grayson as Nightwing It always kind of kills me to read it though, since Grayso was my favorite Robin, though he s also great as Nightwing It s sad to see the original duo break up.The artwork was a little cray for my eyes Nightwing moves like an acrobat, but its hard for me to follow at times.
