I have heard this story told orally but this was the first time I ve read it The first thing I noticed was how colorful the pictures were considering the book was published in 1969 Many books from that time did have color, of course, but many seem washed out to me These illustrations are vivid than most from that time and still hold up well today The monkeys and the crocodiles are slightly cartoonish but accurate a perfect mix for this story and the child I read this to mentioned the pictures a [...]

I love Paul Galdone books, so I borrowed this from the library for my kids to read One of my favorite books EVER is Paul Galdone s Three Little Kittens There s just something about it It s a nice big size with huge illustrations The story is billed as A Jakata Tale From India There is a clever monkey, and a crocodile who wants to eat himbut I won t spoil the story for you.
A cute and simple, yet valuable, story with expressive illustrations of watercolor and ink The images really help to propel you forward through the story The colors are vibrant and the characters expressive and clever, this book would appeal to early elementary students as well as preschool Themes caution, awareness of those around you their motivations
It seems that the original author of this book remains unknown, while we do know that it came from India I read several different version also Some were supposed to be an example of mercy, and others seem to be tales of the crocodile and the monkey matching wits, with the monkey coming out on top Overall, they were fun reads, although I would like to know which one was the original.
I love this book I like to introduce it by talking about trickery I ve built up to it by talking about being little and asking if the kids have ever had a trick played on them Anyway, Paul Galdone is one of my favorites and I like anything he does NO MATTER WHAT.Probably this book can be a little scary, and it can test the patience of younger groups or very large groups.
captivating story arc from the delightful Paul Galdone What does cunning mean was the question tonight The boys played with cars and wandered over to look at the illustrations during storytime.
What a clever monkey and what a tenacious crocodile A fun read about a monkey that must outsmart a crocodile to get what he wants.a great read My son loved the pictures and loved counting the animals on the pages.
This is the story of a monkey and a crocodile The crocodile is trying to catch the monkey but never does This story could be used to teach honesty and how different animals live and their strengths and weakness.
I really enjoyed this book The illustrations are great and I loved that the monkey kept outwitting the crocodile.
