This is a really fun YA book Twelve year old Callum Fox goes to stay with his grandparents in Cornwall while his mother is on a research mission. He gets hit by an ambulance on his cell phone and not paying attention, he walks into the road and thereafter he can see ghosts. He learns about the history of Mousehole and why his grandfather is so grumpy. After all the things I had been reading lately, this was just plain fun.
I won this book on a goodread giveaway Loved It read it in one sitting full of nostalgia loyalties a little bit of history and a real good story Perfect for young adults Many Thanks
This book is aimed at a much younger audience than myself I think the target reader would be 10 12 but it is a good read nevertheless The characters are well written, the plot moves at a steady pace and it is historically accurate The story does rely on moments of suspending your reality mind you, it does deal with someone who can see ghosts, so it is to be expected somewhat and one huge coincidence which is meant to be a twist, but you can see the way the story is going, so it isn t much of a t [...]
I really wanted to like this book but felt that it suffered from having too many ideas and narrative threads to be cohesive over its relatively short running time I enjoyed the evacuee story than the present day, where the titular character resides and this felt well developed and held my interest It felt like it ran out of steam in the backend and interesting storylines were tied up implausibly quickly I did think that A C Hatters writing style was strong with well crafted, direct and descrip [...]
I loved this book Read it with my 10 year old who was studying evacuees at school It was funny and contemporary and we learnt about evacuees and I enjoyed it as much as him Highly recommended.
