I have trouble connecting the negative or lukewarm reviews on this site to the book I just finished reading I thought Getting to Normal was superb I ve never read anything on this theme before life from the perspective of an emotionally neglected seven year old girl Campbell provided situations, inner monologue and descriptions that made my heart ache and tears come to my eyes This book will stay with me for a very long time.

2,5 stars for this book The pacing was a little too slow for me It was heartbreaking to read about the emotional neglect the main character goes through I wish there would have been of a realisation in the people around her about how much she needed to be loved by them, but it was kind of fitting that it didn t happen because real life The way the feelings and thoughts of the main character were described was very well done In the end, not enough happened for this story to be memorable.

This book is written from the mind of a 7 year old, and it portrays though thoughts very nicely It s pleasant to read, full of emotion, and it got me reading it in almost one sitting, which doesn t happen too often.

I have no idea what I was supposed to take out of this book, but I can tell you I took nothing I m not really sure of the point at all The ending was rather random and didn t really tie up lose ends It was unnecessary.
