I liked this short story but it was MM erotica than MM romance We knew nothing about the characters except their feelings for each other Parents and friends were mentioned like they were an important part of the MC s lives but we heard nothing about them, no visits, phone calls, etc This had the potential to be a 5 star story but missed the mark for me.
This is a review of a second read of An Inconvenient Hankering in June, 2014 My first read of the book was in summer 2011 I originally gave it 5 stars but dropped it down to 3 stars after re reading it.Hank and Sam had been best friends and constant companions roommates since they were 16 years old While in collage, they share a small dorm room and start a habit of bringing home girls at the same time and having sex with them a few feet apart from each other Pretty soon Sam realizes he is inter [...]
2.6 StarsToo much telling and not enough showing but that s quite often the case in a lot of shorter titles It just wasn t told well enough to be anything than adequate.
The best part about this book was the pun on the name of one of the characters Hank and the title.Otherwise it was very so so Nothing at all hot or even luke warm about it, and the story line was not powerful enough to make up for it.
Well, I kinda feel like I just read Sam s diary This story read like diary entries rather than scenes in a book not a bad thing, just not what I was expecting I liked the last scene the best because we finally get to see the real Sam and Hank
This was pretty short, at just under 70 pages, and I loved every bit of it This one was loaded with angst, which I love Sam and Hank meet in high school, when they are 16, when Sam is tasked with showing Hank, the new kid, around the school They are pretty much inseparable from then on out, which includes rooming together in college and picking up girls Until Sam realizes he s interested in Hank than the girls After graduation Sam leaves town to get himself sorted out, all the while they stay i [...]
My Review I m always interested to see how different authors deal with coming out stories This one was interesting, but in my opinion, could really have been a lot longer I would have loved to see a bit of Sam s struggle with his sexuality and especially of his of his acceptance of himself As for his love interest, there was so much I would have loved to know about him and his thinking that was impossible in this format A short story from one character s point of view is necessarily limited, [...]
I just re read this story and I liked it a lot again It s all about the sexual tension for me I hope Ms Bishop writes a sequel because the ending was too abrupt I was left feeling like I only read half of a potentially great love story The new relationship between Sam and Hank doesn t happen until the end and when it does it s small really small BUT overall I thought it was a good GFY story I did go looking for this author on the web to see if she had a WIP, but I couldn t find her I hope she su [...]
I saw a friend reading this and was intrigued by the premise This is a short novella My biggest issue is the way the story is told We are told a lot of stuff but I never felt a connection to Sam or Hank Would you believe I started skimming pages And when the guys finally hook up it wasn t even mind blowing.
This story was strangeeven if logical, too I kind of understand both Sam and Hank behavior toward girls or even themselves Maybe they were not ready to admit to their mutual attraction, but to be so scared off, was kid of turn off.
A fairly quick, easy read about two guys who meet at school, go through college and lots of girls together, and then after a time apart, end up house sharing again and finally acting on the attraction that has simmered for years.
Very sweet From best friends to lover The end was a bit rushed, but still, it is a real sweet story.
