I am always fascinated when an author writes from the opposite gender point of view, and Kristin McCloy does it here masterfully On the basis of five words heard on his home answering machine, Miles King s brain kicks into overdrive, and he constructs an affair between his wife, Maggie and his friend and student, Connor Miles is in California writing a screenplay, leaving his journalist wife Maggie home in New York Never able to bring himself to simply confront her about the affair, he writes in [...]

What Stephanie Thought I wasn t sure whether to be disgusted, or enraptured with this book The plot was very poor man has an affair with a woman who is completely different from his wife man battles depression man goes back to wife without even telling her about the other woman.Plot notwithstanding, I ll talk about the conveyed emotions Miles definitely tells it how it is, and every word is so raw and honest, it really haunted me He was such a cynical, smart assed guy whose voice, though disturb [...]

An absolutely fascinating narrator McCloy s raw prose and Miles s wild unpredictability will keep readers hooked as Miles flirts with a potentially catastrophic crash and burn Publisher s Weekly Mesmerizing prose Kirkus Knockout prose LA Times A fascinating peek inside the mind of a writer, warts and all Booklist

I loved how this book explored one man s downward spiral He believes his wife is cheating on him they are in a long distance NYC LA marriage and, based on this suspicion, is pushed into his own affair The writing is raw, emotional, and electric McCloy perfectly captures the loneliness of being away from the person you love and how your own mind can ruin you.

Hollywood Savage was long winded by the end of the book I was hoping for a plane crash or something to liven it up Ms McCloy might think about putting life into her characters, no one wants to read depression all the time Her characters were not ones you could feel for or care about The constant whining made me dislike them the only one I felt anything for was the child.

    Kate

In a nutshell, this book is about a man that feels his wife cheated and so he cheats Then he second guesses himself and rationalizes and mulls over his love of his mistress And he sort of still cares for his wife And nothing happens The whole book is emotional angst that leads nowhere.

    Marianne

Took some effort to get into it but once I was in the zone, couldn t put it down This author is fluent in the language of betrayal.

    Jessica

Well written and compelling story about intimate relationships, but the style it s written as a man s personal journal broke the flow of the narrative too often.

    Ben Hess

Entertaining read with a flawed protagonist trying to find his way in Hollywood.

    Abby Jean

everyone in this book is loathsome.
