Completed it in a hurry got to return the book right anyways its a story of this dumb blod prototype turning a new leaf and becoming worldly wise.t wat i mean anyways the heroine is a babe and is married to this bad guy who is running a porn ring shes blissfully ignorant but then uncovers the truth abt the hubby obviously hes bad, ugly, and uses flowery lingo a good image builder stuck in prison then the whole story kind of went off track when there was a lil MB mixed in it meaning the gal falli [...]
did I ever tell you I was deaf until I turned 16 I can still lip read OOOOoooohhhh Don t you hate it when you come across a moment in a book that sticks out like a sore thumb Something so out of place it can t be disguised You will find that moment in this book around the 4th quarter Doesn t ruin it entirely, but I saw the man behind the curtain Otherwise I didn t guess the ending twist Some of the relationships are too bizarre to believe and people too stupid but it s pretty good anyway the aud [...]
My low star rating is obviously an anomaly I thought the story was far fetched and the author constantly repeated the same points I also felt she was constantly trying to shock the reader Not my cup of tea.
I know that I ve said this before but I ve got to say it again THIS was my favorite Martina Cole book EVER Absolutely fanfuckingtastic 20 years after it was written in 1995 it s STILL phenomenal an absolutely terrific Audible book.God I love Annie Aldington s narration
NOT THE ENDING YOU EXPECT BUT WHAT A READ I HAVE READ IT MORE THAN ONCE IT IS SO GOOD
Loved it, couldn t put it down.
I have long since been a Martina Cole fan but there are many books I still have not read this is one of them This book is an example of Martina at her best This book reminded me why I love her books it is engaging, page turning and the characters are interesting I genuinely found myself turning the pages to find out what happens next I definitely wasn t expecting the Sri Lanka aspect of the story.I hope Martina s new book, due for release later this year, will be just as good as some of her earl [...]
Another good reafIt started off very slow or so I thought It had to take it slow to explain a lot of the story It was interesting to see the journey that Donna took Enjoyed the twist in the story Left you wanting to read to the end Another Martina Cole book that didn t let you down.
WOW The best book I have had the pleasure of in a long time It had me hooked from the first chapter I plan on reading all the Marina Cole books as they are all so different, every book a page turner I can thoroughly recommend this book to all ADULTS
My first Martina Cole and I won t be rushing to read any Extremely long and quite boring.
If you like crime you ll love The Jump , no loose ends, meaningful characters, and dialogue to die for Loved it, cockney and all.
3.5 I found that the book so far seemed to be quite repetitive in a number of places and could have had approximately 150 200 pages taken off because of the repetitiveness.
I am reviewing the gangster thriller The Jump by Martina Cole which is an excellent novel which I bought from a car boot sale This is quite a gritty thriller like many of Martina s books and much of the action takes place in Essex Parkhurst The latter being the maximum security prison Apparently in the prison service in Britain they have a rule that a prison can only be called maximum security if no one has ever escaped and if that does happen it is downgraded It s just a bit of interesting triv [...]
Stopped reading very early on Bit a departure from her usual character archetype After enjoying her first three novels I came back for of the same and was left disappointed I will read the next book by publication date but right now, The Jump is not for me.
It was well written, gripping, interesting with many shock twists and turns along the way The language is hard going and the writing style can be hard at times but it was a pretty good book overall Donna Brunos visibly matures during the novel, as her eyes are opened to the deeds of her husband and his associates The focus of the story is often on her feelings about the things she discovers and her worries about how her life has been enriched by criminal dealings, unbeknown to her It is fascinat [...]
I enjoyed this novel, a great story and I loved the writing style Some very vivid characters and great insights into the UK prison system But OH DEAR THE ENDING Why did there have to be an appeal to female audience style must have an ending with lurve and a bloke to make things all right Donna did a lot of growing but at the end of the day she ended up with another chauvinistic thug all be it one that didn t quite descend to the depths of the other It would have been SO much better if instead of [...]
Very written with well thought out main characters but I thought some of the secondary characters were a bit woolly Donna Brunos was one of many adornments to her husband s lifestyle and she played the role very well When her husband is arrested, tried and convicted as an accessory to a robbery that resulted in murder her life changes She takes over the running of his businesses and so the veneer that was his life, and to a large extent hers, starts to peel away She begins arrangements to spring [...]
I read this book a number of years ago and really enjoyed it at the time I obviously knew what the twist would be this time and, coming back as a re read I could see many hints pointing in that direction that I don t remember picking up on before The book shows its age in that floppy disks are being used, and I can imagine some younger readers not evenknowing what these are I had a work experience student a couple of years ago, quizzing me on film cameras because he had only ever known digital I [...]
This is the first of Martina Cole s books that I have read and I just raced through it Good book Language is very strong and very British.Back Cover Blurb Donna Brunos worships her husband and is devastated when he is jailed for eighteen years on a charge of armed robbery Georgio swears he s been set up and terrified he won t survive the rigours of Parkhurst persuades Donna to help him escape.Implementing the daring plan takes Donna into a twilight world she never believed existed a world of bru [...]
I only finished half this book, found it too depressing Don t like to read stories of people being taken advantage of as the poor woman was in this story The whole atmosphere was too gloomy for my taste She was the only character in the novel I could empathize with and she just seemed to be headed for disaster Also, as another reviewer mentioned, the author is very repetitive in this book She states over and over how much the woman loves her husband and would do anything for him I found this ver [...]
donna has it all married to a handsome greco and wanting for nothing except a child which she cannot have h e her husband flies rather close to the wind and then is set up for a robbery and sentenced t 18 years they r concentrating on an appeal in a year s time but to fight the boredom, donna decides to take an interest in her husband s businesses what she unearths will change her life and many others for ever was rather drawn out for the first half 660 pages of small print paperback and 2 quest [...]
I thought this book was brilliant Georgio commits every deception throughout this book This would be every wife s worse nightmare to learn what Donna Brunos learns about Georgio What a waste of 20 years of your life on such scum.Another great book from Martina Cole who keeps you gripped in the book and shocks you each time you read on.I can t help but love her books from the setting to the characters.I would definitely recommend this book.
One of Martina s best books I would say You can t help but like Donna and feel sorry for her There is an unexpected turn of events towards the end of the book I didn t think my attention span would see the book out when I first saw the amount of pages but I stuck at it and enjoyed it Parts of the book are somewhat far fetched but other parts are believable and would make good viewing if it was in a film.
You cant go wrong with the older books by Martina Cole seems ashame that she has slipped as a writer of late The Jump has everything you expect in a Martina Cole novel and , suspense, intrigue, gangsters, and a great story all packed with a punch This is one of my best books ever, and a book that I have read again, therent arent many books that I can say that about Highly recommended
The first Martina cole book I ever read I was lent this book by a work colleague Despite the rather unorthodox way of bringing issues to the forefront of your mind that you would rather you didn t know about the twists and turns of the plot and unexpected turn out of events keep in you suspense throughout It s empowerment of women and its dealing with issues makes it a powerful book indeed
I like her writing style, very gritty, very course and very, very English I enjoyed the plot, the twists and turns and the insight into prison life for the real hardened criminals but this one dragged on at times and occasionally was very repetitive Had it been 200 pages shorter, I would have rated it 5.
A very compelling read ,which holds your attention, right to the last The growth of the lead female character and the mother, housekeeper and unlikely friend are well crafted It s a distrubing book about violence, corruption and greed ,criminality of the worst and vilest type A hard book to pass on to a friend or maybe that s just me
Donna Brunos worships her husband and is devastated when he is jailed for 18 years on a charge of armed robbery Georgio swears he has been set up and persuades Donna to help him escape Implementing the daring plan takes her into a twilight world she never knew existed Cant remeber much about this except i enjoyed it as i went on to read he other books
One of Cole s best i think This story is full of twists and turns and unexpected moments Not for the fainthearted though with terrible crimes described in it s pages but I think it is worth knowing about these things for how else are we to fight if we are not aware of the enemy
This is the best book I have read in a long time really sucked u in and shocked you at times you really follow the character of Donna and experience everything she is discovering It is so well written and I would suggest this to anyone who likes to read crime books it s amazing
